My Top 10 Pieces of Art

This is my number 1 piece of art by David Haines. It is a pencil drawing called “The End of the Line” that I saw in the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh. The trainers in the drawing are a symbol of youth and rebellion and are seen in many of his other drawings. They could also symbolise terrorism, and in this drawing, the trainers seem to be what the people will use to hurt the person who is tied up. I love how drawing is used as the final image, because drawing is often just a step in the process, not the end result. The delicate drawing in pencil contrasts to the violent, aggressive image, the first thing i noticed about this drawing is how detailed the leaves are!
